IN THE WAKE OF Thursday’s shooting in Oregon, many killed for professing their Christian faith, I can’t help but wonder – Would I have the courage to die for God, who sent His only begotten Son to die for me? How many times have I tempered my thoughts because of how others would react? How many times have I held my tongue on something God had laid on my heart? How many times did I deny God to “fit in?” Not anymore. I’m a Christian. I believe in Christian values. I believe in God. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. He died for yours, too, whether or not you believe that. There is nothing in yours or my past that is too big to overcome in His eyes. Most of all, I believe in love. I believe in God’s love for me and loving others as He has loved me. No matter the hatred many have for Christians, we must choose love. We must react with love. We must choose to speak with love. When we read stories about controversial subjects, are we more interested in showing how we’re right, or showing God’s love? We’ve become a society that talks at people and not to our fellow man. As we navigate this latest tragedy, instead of focusing on gun control, mental illness, or even religious intolerance, let’s focus on loving each other. #IChooseLove

Becki, Thanks for sharing. This hits close to home. The college is only 2 hours away from me. We have been there on various events with our kids. I got home from a doctor's appointment to hear about it, but hadn't heard complete details.

Oh, Kandi, I'm so sorry this tragedy is so close to home for you! I can't even imagine the sorrow the PNW is experiencing right now. It should affect us all, on a human level, and especially as Christians as we hear of his targeting those of faith. My prayers are with you all. <3

Thanks, Becki. It hit closer to home just a few moments ago. They shut down the community college where my daughter is attending. I am hoping she got the message before getting to far from home. (It's an hour drive)

Oh, no! Hopefully it's out of precaution after yesterday's events, not because of a new threat at her school. Praying for you and your daughter! 10/2/2015 11:26:57 am
It was because of a threat to all Coos County schools. The authorities have verified it to not be a viable threat, but they are taking precautions. We are on a lock out due to it as well. Thanks for the prayers. Leave a Reply. |
